Due to the war in Ukraine and the announced acceptance of up to 100,000 Ukrainian refuges in Denmark, the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) is currently extraordinarily busy. SIRI has therefore temporarily closed the phone lines on Fridays and can now only be contacted Mondays and Wednesdays between 9 a.m. to 2.30 pm (DK time).
The processing time of all applications and cases with SIRI will be affected.
It is our experience that the usual processing time for a residence- and work permit is currently approx. 30 days. However, due to the extraordinary load on SIRI, we expect that the processing time of applications will increase to be up to 90 days or even longer.
We therefore recommend all companies in need of foreign labour during spring and summer 2022 to begin the application process as soon as possible.
We also recommend all companies to consider, whether they may be within the scope of the fast-track scheme in Greenland. The fast-track scheme entails a significant reduction in the waiting time for the processing of applications.
If you wish to know more or have questions regarding the fast-track scheme or applications for residence- and work permits, you are welcome to contact attorney-at-law Kista Høegh Niclasen (kh@nuna-law.gl) or assistant attorney Iris Ohms Jørgensen (ij@nuna-law.gl).
