The possibility of entry to Greenland is currently very limited. The Government of Greenland has announced that Greenland is closed for entry during the period from 1 February to 28 February 2021. THIS PERIOD HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL MAY 2, 2021
Travel to Greenland during this period is subject to special application and only possible if the purpose of the travel is deemed “necessary”. Necessary travels only include travels critical to society, SAR-operations, medical evacuations, and necessary transport of persons in relation to maintain civil emergency preparedness, infrastructure, and business critical functions.
If travel to Greenland is work-related, the application shall be made by the employer. Application shall be submitted from the following website:

In addition, stricter COVID-19 regulation has been passed. Coming in from abroad, you must now carry a certificate documenting a negative test which fulfils the following new requirements:
- The test must be made in one of the Nordic countries (a PCR-RNA, RT-PCR or SARS-CoV-2-test), and
- The test must be less than 3 days old (i.e. now max. 72 hours).
If you travel via Denmark, additional test for entry to Denmark may be required.
